Land's End

Land's End marks the most south-westerly point of the English mainland, a headland of granite cliffs facing the open Atlantic, with nothing but sea between here and the Isles of Scilly, roughly 28 miles offshore.

The site itself has been a visitor destination since at least Victorian times, and today combines the natural cliff scenery with a small visitor complex. The real draw, though, is the coast path in both directions — north towards Sennen Cove's wide sandy beach, or south towards Porthgwarra and Porthcurno — which gets you away from the car park crowds within a few minutes' walk.

On a clear day the Longships Lighthouse is visible just offshore, and the Isles of Scilly are sometimes visible on the horizon in good conditions. The whole headland sits within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the coast either side is part of the South West Coast Path.

Sennen Cove

A mile or so north of Land's End, Sennen Cove has one of Cornwall's best sandy beaches and a genuine fishing harbour, and makes a good, less crowded base for the same stretch of coast.
